February is the month of love and what kind could be better than a mothers love! That's right more maternity shoots to talk about.
It's definitely a busy week with lots of sessions I'll be sharing with you but for now I wanted to share Colette's session from Monday. Back in December we did a solo maternity session but shortly after she messaged me with a fun idea to involve her husband.
Colette and Jason will be welcoming son AW in just 2 weeks. AW is a nickname representing the baby's initials and it's a family name on Colette's side so in honor of that she wanted to shoot at A&W. Jason is in the Navy and so the concept she came up with was to do a fun spin on a Pin-up styled shoot complete with red lips and heels. It was so much fun and totally fitting for this couple.
We finished off the session by a few family shots at the park with big sister to be Hazel. Congrats to be McCune Family!
Until next time,
Yesterday I had the privilege to help out with some photoshoots with a friend of mine who is a photographer in Southern California.
We started our morning in Temecula for an engagement shoot. The location was gorgeous. It was at Whispering Oaks Terrace which is where the couple will tie the knot this September. It had some unbelievable views and we started the shoot a little before 9 am and the light was incredible!
It was so much fun to be on location with another photographer because it gives you another perspective you might not of had normally. For example, since I was along just for fun and to pick up some pointers I wasn't taking photos from a lead shooter point of view but that extra perspective still provided some great images.
We wrapped up the afternoon and worked into the evening at Irvine Regional Park. It was my first time at this location and it was stunning. Truly a treasure for anyone in the Southern California area. There is a train that takes visitors through the park and there are even pony rides for the kids. You can even rent bikes or paddle boats for the afternoon. The weather was unbelievable which of course was no surprise so we worked until 5:30.
Lifestyle sessions are so special. I love seeing families interact naturally with each other. You get photos that show emotion and are true to life rather than always trying to achieve an unrealistic standard for a portrait session. Poses are fine and I certainly pose my clients as do all photographers but I encourage you all to look at your favorite photos, I bet more often than not they are the ones that best represent you. The ones where your kids are playing and their hair is blowing in the wind or those moments we catch you all laughing. Those are the pictures we love most.
I look forward to sharing with you guys what I'm working on in the next few weeks! Reach out to me so I can book a session for your family soon.
Until next time,
